GAMES IN THE NIGHT
GAMES IN THE NIGHT
“Was the daylight too much? Or the suffering
Too great to bear? "
It is the first statement that echoes through
The empty pits of justice with a long
Row of an absentee jury
Her monsters safely tucked in a booth,
As her conscience stands guard, maybe this
Is so, to prevent another apocalypse or
Rapture of awakening her demons of the past
They bellow, they hiss, they curse and laugh,
“It would have been better if you locked
Us up for good! Now that we have tasted death,
Bled and hungered for your soul, RUN!! "
She had found peace, a new friend she had
Never known of before, those nights when
It grew so dark and cold, her monsters came
Out to play, kept her company, yet she
Was too quick to betray them
She watches as they starve the willingness
Of her guard, they gnaw on her flesh and
Tear through her fear, they slow down
To watch her beg for mercy, then comes
The lethal bite, the morning, the abandonment,
She is left wanting for the pain, the thrill,
The games of the night. She sits by the
Window, wondering when night will fall
Soon, so she can play again
